What’s New for the Cadillac CT4 and CT5?

2021 Cadillac CT4 & CT5 | Bangor, ME

For the 2021 model year, the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are getting several substantial updates. Though both cars entered a brand-new generation for 2020, it’s clear Cadillac is not resting on its laurels. Here’s what to expect.

New style.

Both the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are getting a few visual tweaks. Say goodbye to the Red Obsession Tintcoat and Royal Spice Metallic exterior color options, and hello to Infrared Tintcoat and Rift Metallic. On V-Series models, the cars also get a Modena leather steering wheel and your choice of blue or red Brembo® V-Performance front brakes.

Wireless tech.

For the first time, the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are now offered with an available high-definition 12-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment has also been updated to feature wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto. New options include SiriusXM® with 360L and a nifty rotary control knob that makes operating the infotainment system even more intuitive.

Improved safety.

Cadillac has always been at the forefront of safety, and the base CT4 model now gets a lot of safety features as standard equipment for the first time, including Front Pedestrian Braking and the Safety Alert Seat. Both the CT4 and CT5 now also come standard with Buckle to Drive, a new system intended to work in tandem with Teen Driver.

Cadillac even says that Super Cruise will be added to the options list in early 2021. Learn more about the 2021 Cadillac CT4 and CT5 at Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac of Bangor.

The 2021 Cadillac XT6 Is Set to Get Even More Luxurious

2021 Cadillac XT6 | Bangor, ME

The Cadillac XT6 is receiving some great updates for the 2021 model year that make it an even better option for families in Bangor, Maine. One of the biggest changes is that the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will add an all-new Luxury trim.

The Luxury trim will be the new base trim level for the crossover and should allow the model to appeal to more drivers. It will have many of the same styling cues as the Premium Luxury trim, including the elegant Galvano grille surround.

The Luxury trim will stand out from both the Premium Luxury and Sport trims by coming standard with a different engine. The Cadillac XT6 Luxury will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. However, each trim will pair its engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Much about this new trim is still unknown, but more details should come available when the 2021 Cadillac XT6 arrives at dealerships later this year. Nevertheless, it’s clear that the Luxury trim will be an ideal choice if you want a less expensive, but still luxurious, family hauler.

Chevy Equinox Named One of the Safest Cars for Teen Drivers

2021 Chevrolet Equinox | Bangor, ME

If you’re looking for a safe, reliable, affordable vehicle for your teen driver, the Chevrolet Equinox is a top pick. As proof, the SUV just earned a coveted spot on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s 2020 Safe Vehicles for Teens list.

Making it on the 2020 Safe Vehicles for Teens list is no small feat. The small SUV needed an acceptable or good rating in the IIHS driver-side small overlap front test. The Equinox also received good ratings in the roof strength, moderate overlap front, side, and head restraint tests.

Another factor the IIHS considered during its evaluation is whether or not the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration scored the vehicle at least four stars for side and front collision tests, as well as a minimum of four stars overall. Finally, Consumer Reports also had to give the Equinox at least three out of five stars for its emergency handling capability.

The 2020 Equinox earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award thanks to its crashworthiness and numerous safety systems, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Following Distance Indicator. The SUV also comes with Teen Driver mode, which allows you to customize settings and limit certain features when your child is behind the wheel. The system also provides an in-vehicle report card that summarizes their driving behavior so you can help them improve and stay safe.

Here’s Why Cadillac Won’t Electrify the CT4 or CT5

Cadillac CT4 and CT5

While it may seem like many of your favorite vehicles are ditching their combustion engines and going electric, you can still count on the popular Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans to retain their gas-powered dynamos. Currently, there are no plans to offer hybrid or plug-in hybrid variants, either. Instead, the luxury automaker wants to focus on giving CT4 and CT5 drivers what they really want — more powerful models like the Blackwing-powered CT4-V and CT5-V.

However, if you’re in the market for a Cadillac EV or hybrid, the prestigious automaker offers plenty of options. A new flagship electric sedan, known as the Celestiq, debuted in the spring of 2020. The automaker also revealed a teaser for the Lyriq, an upcoming all-electric SUV.

There’s a keen logic in the automaker’s strategy — by offering both EVs and combustion engine vehicles, Cadillac provides a diverse lineup for all sorts of drivers. Whether you’re a fan of the smooth, clean, and refined ride that an EV offers, or you prefer the dynamic, energized growls of a combustion engine, you can’t go wrong by choosing a Cadillac.

If you’d like to get behind the wheel of one of these spirited sedans, contact us at Quirk Cadillac of Bangor to learn more about driving home in your very own Cadillac CT4 or CT5 sedan.

Chevy May Be Developing a Secret Hybrid Corvette C8

2020 Chevy Corvette | Bangor, ME

The auto world has been speculating that Chevrolet may be secretly developing a hybrid Corvette C8, and the speculation was only accelerated by spy photos taken in a few months ago.

Autoweek and other auto news sites first noticed that the fuse block of the 2020 Corvette C8, the first mid-engine Corvette ever made, is equipped with two fuses that point toward a future hybrid model. The owner’s manual for the C8 shows one fuse in particular designed to work with a lithium-ion battery.

This information dropped in early March, with auto writers theorizing that Chevy had equipped the Corvette C8 with the infrastructure for a hybrid option so that the groundwork was already in place for future development. Then, in late March, spy photos showed a camouflaged Corvette with heavy-duty electric cabling attached, implying testing of some kind of electric powertrain.

There’s a slight possibility this is the future 2023 Corvette ZR1, but most journalists quickly dismissed that idea, since the spotted Corvette didn’t have the exterior aerodynamic parts we’re guaranteed to see on the upcoming supercar.

We don’t know yet when a hybrid version of the C8 might release, or even whether the Corvette C8 Hybrid will be a regular or plug-in hybrid. The spy photos didn’t show a charging port, but the fuse box and does feature a slot to power a device that emits a noise when a car is in electric-only mode.

Whether or not the hybrid Corvette C8 does, or will ever, exist, it’s certainly an exciting prospect. In the meantime, swing by Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac of Bangor and take a look at our inventory of Chevy hybrids and EVs.

An Era Ends as Last Chevrolet Impala Drives Off the Line

Chevy Impala | Bangor, ME

The saying goes that all good things must come to an end, and for the time being, that end has come for one of the most legendary names in the Chevy lineup. The last Chevrolet Impala rolled off the line at the Detroit-Hamtramck plant earlier this year, bringing a chapter of automotive history to a close for now.

A staple of the Chevy lineup for more than 60 years, the Impala is a pop culture icon that’s been represented in music, television, movies, and video games over the years. Recently, it picked up awards like the title of Best Large Car for the Money from U.S. News & World Report and the 5-Year Cost to Own Award for full-size cars from Kelley Blue Book.

Though this may seem like the end for the Impala, it’s worth noting that the beloved sedan went into hiatuses in 1985 and 1996. The last Chevrolet Impala leaving Detroit may not necessarily be goodbye to the name as much as it’s a case of until next time.

When might that next time be? Chevrolet could potentially revive the Impala name for an electric vehicle down the road, for starters. It would be fitting with Detroit-Hamtramck undergoing a $2.2 billion retooling to focus on EV production, and the return of the Impala name for a dynamic new zero-emissions vehicle would help create a connection with a new generation of drivers.

Even though the last Chevrolet Impala has been built, you can still find this beloved sedan at Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac of Bangor. Browse our inventory and, if you see something you like, give our sales specialists a call.

2021 Colorado ZR2 Design Update

2021 Colorado ZR2 | Bangor, ME

Chevrolet recently unveiled its latest look for the midsize Colorado, and it looks exciting, to say the least. The 2021 Colorado is set to be one of the most capable midsize trucks in Chevy’s lineup, especially the ZR2 trim, which is fully off-road ready. This is one truck that will drop jaws on both the highway and on off-road trails.

So what’s new on the 2021 Chevy Colorado? You can find a new Sand Dune Metallic exterior paint color on the Z71 and ZR2 models, as well as new Chevy bowtie emblems and an embossed tailgate. The ZR2 off-road variant comes with an entirely new appearance, with touches like a front fascia with bold “Chevrolet” lettering. There’s also a new front end, which makes the truck look more dynamic while also improving visibility and airflow.

“We’ve sold 520,000 Colorado pickups in five years through a relentless, foot-on-the-gas approach to product and feature updates,” said Bob Krapes, director of marketing at Chevrolet Trucks. “With its new-look front end and tailgate, Colorado will now have a more aggressive appearance to match its award-winning capability.”

In addition to styling, the ZR2 will have several features to optimize capability. This includes segment-exclusive Multimatic DSSV™ position-sensitive dampers, skid plates, cast-iron control arms, red tow hooks, a two-inch suspension lift, and more.

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado is set to start tearing up roads later this year, and we can’t wait to see you here at Quirk Chevrolet Cadillac of Bangor for a test drive.
