Up to Six Cadillac EVs Will Join the Lineup by 2025

Cadillac EV Lineup | Bangor, ME

Electric vehicles are the way of the future, and Cadillac is leading the charge. According to The News Wheel, Cadillac is on track to release up to six all-electric vehicles by 2025.

The first to appear will be the Cadillac Lyriq, which is set to launch in just a year. That’s right, this time next year, you could be driving your own Lyriq, an all-electric SUV. The Lyriq is one of the hallmark vehicles of General Motors’ larger promise to introduce 30 EVs internationally by 2025.

In addition to the Lyriq, Cadillac is laying the groundwork for three other electric SUVs. The first two to follow will be the Optiq and the Symboliq. While not confirmed, the rumor mill speculates that we can also expect an all-electric variant of the wildly popular Escalade luxury SUV.

But it’s not just crossovers and SUVs getting the electric treatment. The Cadillac Celestiq will serve as the luxury automaker’s flagship electric sedan. This model should hit our lot in Bangor, Maine, by 2025.

The sixth and final EV could be a “low-roof EV” that crosses a four-door coupe and a sedan. A name has still not been released.

GM to Introduce 30 New EVs by 2025

Hummer EV | Bangor, ME

General Motors already offers some fantastic electric vehicles in the U.S., including the Chevrolet Bolt EV. Nevertheless, the automaker recently announced that it will be offering 30 new EVs by the end of 2025.

GM will sell at least two-thirds of these new EVs in North America. Chevrolet and the other GM brands will each be adding new models to their lineups. So far, 10 of the 30 models are on the development schedule, one of which is an electric Chevy pickup.

The upcoming models will utilize the automaker’s new Ultium technology. This innovation should reduce battery costs by about 60 percent and help lower the starting prices of the EVs, making them more attainable options for shoppers on a budget.

The second generation of the Ultium battery packs have also doubled energy density and could give upcoming models an impressive driving range of up to 450 miles on a single charge.* This means that you may be able to take small road trips and drive to and from work without having to worry about finding a charging station.

We at Quirk Chevrolet of Bangor look forward to adding new EVs to our dealership. Whether you’re looking for a battery-powered or gas-powered vehicle, be sure to check out our current inventory.

*GM estimated. EPA estimates not available. Vehicle range may vary based on several factors, including temperatures, terrain, battery age, and vehicle use and maintenance.

The 2022 Cadillac V-Series will Feature Magnesium Wheels

Cadillac V-Series | Bangor, ME

Still primarily known for outfitting vehicles with the most luxurious appointments possible, Cadillac has recently made waves in the automotive world by branching out into previously uncharted territory with its race-ready V-series Blackwing vehicles. In the automaker’s most recent game-changing move, Cadillac just announced that the new 2022 CT4-V and CT5-V will come with optional magnesium wheels.

Professional auto racers have been using magnesium wheels for well over half a century due to their extremely useful combined high-strength, low-weight properties. Per Cadillac, the material was chosen for the next-gen V-series vehicles because “magnesium wheels help reduce mass at the center, allowing for more flexibility with the spoke design and better shock/vibration absorbance.”

Though the wheels are not expected to look much different than the current wheel options available for V-series Blackwing vehicles, those in-the-know can look for a small “Mg” emblem stamped on the wheel as a tell. While the material is far less popular today than it was earlier in the 20th century, true General Motors enthusiasts will know that this is not GM’s first foray into the world of magnesium wheels; the automaker actually offered similar wheels for the fifth generation of the Corvette until 2001.

The official unveiling of the 2022 Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing is not expected until spring, so stay tuned to Quirk Cadillac of Bangor’s blog for updates.

2021 Cadillac CT4 & CT5 | Bangor, ME

For the 2021 model year, the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are getting several substantial updates. Though both cars entered a brand-new generation for 2020, it’s clear Cadillac is not resting on its laurels. Here’s what to expect.

New style.

Both the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are getting a few visual tweaks. Say goodbye to the Red Obsession Tintcoat and Royal Spice Metallic exterior color options, and hello to Infrared Tintcoat and Rift Metallic. Wireless tech.

For the first time, the Cadillac CT4 and CT5 are now offered with an available high-definition 12-inch digital instrument cluster. 2021 Cadillac XT6 | Bangor, ME

The Cadillac XT6 is receiving some great updates for the 2021 model year that make it an even better option for families in Bangor, Maine. One of the biggest changes is that the 2021 Cadillac XT6 will add an all-new Luxury trim.

The Luxury trim will be the new base trim level for the crossover and should allow the model to appeal to more drivers. It will have many of the same styling cues as the Premium Luxury trim, including the elegant Galvano grille surround.

However, each trim will pair its engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Chevy Equinox Named One of the Safest Cars for Teen Drivers

2021 Chevrolet Equinox | Bangor, ME

If you’re looking for a safe, reliable, affordable vehicle for your teen driver, the Chevrolet Equinox is a top pick. As proof, the SUV just earned a coveted spot on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s 2020 Safe Vehicles for Teens list.

Making it on the 2020 Safe Vehicles for Teens list is no small feat. The small SUV needed an acceptable or good rating in the IIHS driver-side small overlap front test. The Equinox also received good ratings in the roof strength, moderate overlap front, side, and head restraint tests.

Another factor the IIHS considered during its evaluation is whether or not the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration scored the vehicle at least four stars for side and front collision tests, as well as a minimum of four stars overall. Finally, Consumer Reports also had to give the Equinox at least three out of five stars for its emergency handling capability.

The 2020 Equinox earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick award thanks to its crashworthiness and numerous safety systems, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Following Distance Indicator. The SUV also comes with Teen Driver mode, which allows you to customize settings and limit certain features when your child is behind the wheel. The system also provides an in-vehicle report card that summarizes their driving behavior so you can help them improve and stay safe.

Here’s Why Cadillac Won’t Electrify the CT4 or CT5

Cadillac CT4 and CT5

While it may seem like many of your favorite vehicles are ditching their combustion engines and going electric, you can still count on the popular Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans to retain their gas-powered dynamos. Currently, there are no plans to offer hybrid or plug-in hybrid variants, either. Instead, the luxury automaker wants to focus on giving CT4 and CT5 drivers what they really want — more powerful models like the Blackwing-powered CT4-V and CT5-V.

However, if you’re in the market for a Cadillac EV or hybrid, the prestigious automaker offers plenty of options. A new flagship electric sedan, known as the Celestiq, debuted in the spring of 2020. The automaker also revealed a teaser for the Lyriq, an upcoming all-electric SUV.

There’s a keen logic in the automaker’s strategy — by offering both EVs and combustion engine vehicles, Cadillac provides a diverse lineup for all sorts of drivers. Whether you’re a fan of the smooth, clean, and refined ride that an EV offers, or you prefer the dynamic, energized growls of a combustion engine, you can’t go wrong by choosing a Cadillac.

If you’d like to get behind the wheel of one of these spirited sedans, contact us at Quirk Cadillac of Bangor to learn more about driving home in your very own Cadillac CT4 or CT5 sedan.
